ABOUT US- THE Beginning
PAST EVENT
The Southeastern Improvement Association proudly became an official nonprofit organization in October 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our mission to uplift and empower communities. Our founder, Ms. Sonja Bloodworth, brought a deep well of experience and passion, having served for over twenty-five years with the Federal Government. Although enjoying retirement, the decision was made to work part-time. She served three years as a dedicated consultant with the KKAC Organization based in Little Rock, Arkansas.

During her time with KKAC, an exciting opportunity arose when the USDA extended a chance to expand their impact through a sub-award grantee program—an initiative designed to support aspiring changemakers in launching and growing their nonprofit organizations. When KKAC asked Ms. Bloodworth if she would be interested in leading this effort, she didn’t hesitate. This was a natural step for her. She saw it as an opportunity to expand her community impact. With a heart full of purpose and a vision for lasting change, she said “yes”—and from that moment, the seeds of the Southeastern Improvement Association began to grow.
